Out of all the hot sauces currently on the market, there are only a rare few that have been fermented. The Eaten Alive founders ferment each batch of sauce for up to six months to ensure the award-winning and addictive flavours that can only occur with patience and love.
Eaten Alive was created by two chefs, Glyn and Pat, who shared a love of food and fermentation. They spent more than 20 years working in some of the UK’s best restaurants such as L’Enclume, Fera and The Ledbury. Curious yet? We are!

How does Eaten Alive’s Hot Sauce fermentation process work?
Firstly, Eaten Alive gets fresh fruits, vegetables and chillies and then salts them. Then, they are all fermented at cool room temperature for up to six months. The fermentation experts taste each batch and decide whether they are ready based on flavour profiles and acidity levels. Lastly, the ferments are all moved into a cold temperature storage container to slow down the fermentation process whilst keeping all the good bacteria alive.
