Product Overview

Biona’s Organic Wild Rice Mix is made from Camargue red rice, Italian long-grain rice, and Canadian wild rice for a combo that is not only tasty but healthy.

Camargue red rice has a nutty flavour and a chewy texture. It is deemed healthy because of its antioxidants and high protein and fibre content.

Italian long-grain rice has less starch and is less sticky. It is also naturally high in fibre. When cooked, it comes out soft and fluffy.

Canadian wild rice has a chewy texture and a subtle grassy flavour. While technically not rice, it has a taste and texture similar to rice. Nutritionally, it is high in protein, fibre and vitamins.

This Biona Wild Rice Mix can be eaten steamed or used in curries, pilafs, salads and soups. Cooks and looks just like regular rice, but nutritionally richer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is wild rice healthier than regular rice?

Wild rice is the grain of grass classified under a different species, not closely related to regular rice. It is relatively high in protein, lysine, manganese, zinc and dietary fibre.

It also has B vitamins, iron, potassium, folate, magnesium and niacin, and, like rice, it is gluten-free. The Biona Organic Wild Rice Mix would be an ideal substitute for individuals who love rice but need more protein and fibre.

Unenriched rice, on the other hand, is naturally high in manganese and is also a good source of vitamin B5 and selenium. Enriched rice is usually fortified with B vitamins. It is also high in carbohydrates, phosphorus and zinc. In general, white rice is an affordable energy food.

Eat regular rice when you need an energy boost, but if you want more vitamins, grab a bowl of Biona Wild Rice Mix instead!
